 Joining The Wokingham Society

The membership year runs from January to December. Subscriptions may be paid for multiple years if desirable and a receipt will confirm this for your records.

Members will receive 3 or 4 newsletters each, be invited to Society member events (including social ones) and they can attend Committee meetings if they wish. Members are also encouraged to participate in society endeavours, to make their views, suggestions and concerns about the town known and to offer their services on Committee. An AGM is held in October or thereabouts each year.

Membership subscriptions are:
Single £5.00
Household: £8.00
Life £100.00

Payment by Standing Bankers Order assists the work of the Society. Additional donations gratefully received!

Corporate Membership
The Society also encourages corporate membership to other groups and societies in order to get to more people. Such membership may be useful and of benefit to these groups. Please contact the Society's membership secretary for more information.

Benefits of membership :

  • Being involved first hand in matters relating to the town of Wokingham, its preservation and future development

  • Having a platform to air your views on matters relating to the town and helping to determine who should receive grants from the Society's funds and what initiatives should be undertaken

  • Using the Society as a practical link to other bodies and authorities

  • Receiving a regular newsletter to update you on the above, plus advance notice of any other publications/reports of interest internally or externally

  • Attending events on specific topics affecting the town and to speak with others with similar interests

  • Attending social events to speak with fellow members, officers and the committee

  • Having an open invitation to attend committee meetings upon request

  • Knowing that you are helping contribute to events and features for the wellbeing of your town

  • Participating in research and the development of initiatives (if you wish) instigated by or including the Society AND knowing you are involved in a civic society which cares for this town, all for a low subscription
