Work on Peach Place, the area between the Market Place and Rose Street, covering the former Rose Street Car
Park, commended in March 2017. The development will provide a number of retail units and apartments, with four town
houses fronting Rose Street.
A number of units have now been occupied, including Gail’s Bakery; Waterstones; Cook gourmet frozen food, the Blue Orchid Bakery and Tea Room; vinyl record shop Beyond the Download; the Leafy Elephant gin bar; Sit & Sip (an independent craft beer bar and bottle shop) and outdoor clothing and equipment specialists Mountain Warehouse. They will be joined by luxury bathroom design company Ripples.
Completion of the project was delayed when the contractors, Dawnus, went into administration in March 2019, but the Borough Council appointed local company CTS to take over the wok immediately required. As a result, no firm date has been set for work to finish on the site.
