                                        DEATH OF JOHN BALSTON WALTER
John Balston Walter, the eldest son of John Walter III, died on the evening of
Christmas Eve whilst skating on one of the lakes of the Bearwood Estate with some
relatives. The ice gave way and two of his brothers and a cousin fell into the water
and were in danger of drowning. John went to the rescue, but almost immediately the
sudden shock of the icy water stopped his heart.
