The Dog and Duck – Mathewsgreen Road, Emmbrook
Up to 1901
The Dog and Duck at Emmbrook started life as a beer house. Absolom Deane received the first
licence in 1851 when he was 80 years old (and described in the census as a gardener). Brakspears
Brewery bought it in 1857 and by 1901 it was an attractive public house in a rural setting.
