The programme was one of the best of its kind provided in the town for some years,
and every item was efficiently executed. Mrs. Clare Wright’s fine voice was
modulated with great effect, her efforts being received with warm applause. Mr.
Eustace Ponsonby’s musical sketches caused great merriment, and it was generally
hoped that this would not be his last appearance in the town. Mr. Izard’s clever piano
solos gained well-earned and hearty recognition. Mr. H.G. Powell and Mr. E.H. Moss
in the comic element were also well received. Miss Daisy Churchman acted as
accompanist. Before the last piece the Chairman, in proposing a vote of thanks to the
ladies and gentlemen who had assisted, enlarged the efficiency of the Wokingham
Fire Brigade, and contended that the splendid gathering was an acknowledgment of
their worth and merit. The Captain (Mr. E. Ifould) thanked the Chairman and the
company for the hearty support they had rendered his Brigade. We are glad to say that
the entertainment will, financially, be a great success. The following was the full
programme:-

The excellent entertainment given by the members of the Brigade on the 5 inst.
which was so well patronised has been the means of adding £17 to the Accidental
Insurance Fund. Unfortunately the Brigade has this week sustained a severe loss in the
sad death of Mr. Albert Burrett one of its youngest and most promising members. He
was 24 years of age.
