fully scored for military bands, in appreciation of the Band’s rendering of music at
                   Binfield Sports, recently held.

The Wokingham Athletic Club opened their league programme on Saturday with a
match against Old Bracknell Wanderers. The Bracknell Club however, were no match
for the home club and the Athletes won very easily by seven goals to nil.
The Embrook F.C. went to Sunningdale to meet the local team in the same
competition and were beaten by six goals to nil. Wokingham played a “friendly” with
Broadmoor at Broadmoor, the match ending up in a draw of three goals.

                                             WESLEYAN BAND OF HOPE
A meeting was held in the Wesleyan Schoolroom on Monday, when there was a
good attendance. Among those who contributed to the programme were Mrs. Webb,
Misses Drinkwater, Archer, Key, Hawkins and Gadd.

THE FURNISHING OF THE TOWN HALL
Mr. Manley moved that a committee comprising about one half of the Council be
appointed, and that a corresponding number of representative persons outside the
council be invited to consider and submit proposals for the proper furnishing of the
Town Hall. He did not think it very creditable for them to have a Town Hall and then
furnish it badly. At Wargrave they possessed an inexpensive Town Hall which was
splendidly furnished and a credit to the village.
No one seconded the motion and it fell to the ground.

                                                   CHURCH HOUSE
A popular entertainment was given on Saturday evening in the Church House the
programme being arranged by the Misses Daniell and Cooper. The Rev. B. Long
presided, and songs were sung by Messrs. Jay and W. Funnell. Mr. Bassett’s
gramophone was appreciated, as was Mr. Walker’s lecture on “Coal and Coal
Mining,” the lantern being manipulated by the Rector. Mr. H.G. Powell gave two
recitations, “The Midnight Charge” and “The Charge of the Light Brigade.” Miss
Fielder contributed a pianoforte solo and with her sister, a duet. Misses Funnell and
                   Fielder were the accompanists.
