ST. PAUL’S SCHOOLS
On Monday afternoon, Mr. T.E. Ellison distributed the medals, bars and clasps
provided by the County Council for regularity of attendance of children in elementary
schools, and also awarded prizes provided by the same authority, and which are given
for regular and punctual attendance, cleanliness, attention to lessons and general good
behaviour.
TOWN FOOTBALL CLUB
The annual meeting was held in the Bank Room at the Town Hall on Friday
evening. In the absence of the Rev. B. Long, Mr. A.C. Hughes was voted to the chair.
The balance sheet showed a credit balance of over £7. The report dealing with the
season’s work was presented by the hon. secretary (Mr. A. H. Jones), the following
being mentioned) and thanked for their services:- Messrs. H. Chipp and Hurdwell
(linesmen), R.H. Challis (gateman), the hon. members, Mr. J. May (hon. treasurer and
auditor). The balance sheet and report was adopted on the proposition of Mr. E.H.
Thatcher, seconded by Mr. H. Berry. The officers were then re-elected, viz.:

he had entered the Club for both divisions of the Ascot and District League,
Camberley Hospital Cup, Berks and Bucks Junior Cup and Reading Town Cup Senior
and Junior. A discussion followed as to the Club entering the Temperance League and
the Camberley Hospital Cup, and it was decided that the entrance to various cup ties
and leagues be decided in April, where the committee will report to the general
meeting of the Club.

FIRE BRIGADE
The Earl of Hillsborough who has taken a keen interest in the Wokingham Fire
Brigade has been effected a fireman. He is the eldest son of the Marquis of Downshire
and was born in 1894.

Mr. E.O. Hughes was elected Alderman in place of Mr. T.M. Wescott who resigned
because of ill health.

TOWN CLERK SUMMONED FOR INDECENT ASSAULT
A painful sensation was caused to Wokingham this week when it became known
that Mr. James May, the Town Clerk, would be summoned for an indecent assault
upon Mary Elizabeth Griffin, a domestic servant, of 23 Wescott-road, Wokingham.
The case was heard yesterday (Friday) before Mr. G.A. Watson and Mr. E.D.
Mansfield.
