The following were successful in the class, Best decorated vehicles: 1, Mr. and Mrs.
Donovan Watts; 2, Mr. W.E. Giles; 3, Mr G. Townsend.—the holder of the lucky
programme was Mr. F. Clarke, with No. 251.
Clock competition.--Miss Lewington.'
The_ result of a whist drive held in the British Legion Hall was as follows:--
Ladies: 1, Miss Brow; 2, Mrs. Green; 3, Mrs. Martin. Gentlemen: 1, Mr. Griffin; 2,
Master P.R. Herring; 3, Mr. Shorter. The M.C. was Mr. A. Sherwood.
“Acorn,” the mystery man of the carnival, was correctly challenged by Miss Elsie
Fry, to whom the prize was awarded.
Baby Show
There were 120 entries in the baby show, the results of which were as follows:--
Under one year.—1, Betty Hamblin; 2, Lionel Potter; 3, Beryl Busby; 4, Bridget
Withers.
Under two years.—1, Kenneth Willis; 2, Vivienne Leigh; 3, Ronald Chouler; 4,
Yvonne Coleman.
Under three years.—1, Peter Jones; 2, Pat Hancock; 3, Robert Proud; 4, Phil Hall.
Under four years.—1, Joan Brackley; 2, Mary Austin; 3, Donald Walker.
Twins.—Alice and Elsie Lawrence.
Motor-Cycle Gymkhana.
An exciting motor-cycle gymkhana on the Town Football ground yielded the
following results:--

Musical stalls.—1, B. Wakefield; 2, C. Matthews; 3, R. Halls.
Tilting the bucket.--l, F. Townson; 2, R. Halls

The Side-shows.
The side-shows took place in the Market Square- and round the Town Hall, and
aroused great interest.

Butcher; guessing stall, Mrs. Arnold; card darts, Miss Rogers; electric board, Miss E.
Deane; hidden treasure, Mrs. Grant; penny on squares, Mrs. Brookman; balls in pipes,
Mrs. Reynolds; bucket and balls, Mrs. F. Lush; dabbing corks, Miss Youlden;
carnival novelties, Miss M. Brown; refreshment stall, Mrs. Webb.
