Mrs Corfield had invited other party leaders to send autographed photographs, but
                   Mr. Baldwin alone had responded.
Other “lots” included a live Chinchilla kitten, a tray made and presented by Mr.
Houlton, a Georgian fish slice, vases, etc.
Following the auction, infants of Palmer School were responsible for some very
pretty and dainty dances, while girls of the R.M.S.O., Bear Wood (with Miss Webb at
the piano) danced in costume with marked skill and grace. This brought the
                   proceedings to the tea interval.
                                                 THE STALLHOLDERS
Mrs. Corfield acted as general hon. secretary for stalls, and stallholders, which were
                   as follows: Household: The Hon. Mrs. Corfield and Mrs. Eustace; china and glass;

Pigott, Mrs. Breach and Mrs. Harwood; general secretary of stalls; The Hon Mrs.
                   Corfield.
Mr F. Langley was in charge of bowling (men) for pig, given by Mr. Henry Bowyer,
and (women) for pig or £1, the gift of Mr. Frank Bowyer. Coker-nut shies, hoop-la,
                   etc., were further attractions.
The evening’s programme was carried out in the meadow, and provided keen
                   contests and much appreciated spectacles.
The elementary schools relay race was won by Palmer School with St. Paul’s as
                   runners-up.
The “spectacular” relay race by the Girl Guides aroused great interest.
For the “Pearson” Cup, the elementary schools’ tug-of-war proved even more
exciting than usual. Two teams, St. Paul’s and Palmer (holders), competed. The teams
Were well matched and the tugs were strongly contested. St. Paul’s were winners by
2-0. It is five years since St. Paul’s last won this cup.
English folk dances performed by a company under Miss Evans, of “Aberfoyle,”
Wokingham were followed with great interest.
The Rev. K. St. C. Thomas, with megaphone, made an excellent announcer.
The Wokingham Town Band (under Mr. W.J. Tugwell, of Reading), enlivened the
                   proceedings.
The Mayor (Alderman Priest), who was accompanied by the Mayoress, presented
the prizes. Results are expected to be very satisfactory. During the day, Boy Scouts
and Girl Guides rendered willing and useful service.
