In a list of deaths of members of the Merchant Navy and Fishing Fleets due to
                   enemy action and other causes arising out of the war appears the name of Ernest

                   James Fenn (1  Officer) “Ellerdale,” Bearwood Road, Wokingham.

                                               REPEAT PERFORMANCE
                      Infants  of  Palmer  School  gave  a  repeat  performance  of  an  entertainment  in  the
                   school Hall on Thursday. Canon Wickham Legg thanked the children and mistresses
                   for a good show, and a collection was taken for “British Sailors.”

                                             AMERICANS ENTERTAINED
                      An  American  concert  party  went  to  the  Town  Hall  last  Saturday  to  entertain  the
                   children  of  All  Saints’  Sunday  School  who  were  having  their  annual  party.  The
                   compere was Corpl. Albert Pearce. Pte. Joseph Vicino played the accordion, Pte. Carl

                   P. Weiderhold was at the piano, and Pte. 1  Class, Charles A. Cook (tenor) songs.

                                          BRITAIN MUST INCREASE TRADE
                      After this war Britain must increase trade with her Empire, said Mrs. Lancelot Dent,
                   speaking  on  the  British  Commonwealth  at  an  open  meeting  at  the  Town  Hall  on
                   Tuesday. She said it was up to Britain to help her Empire, who, without hesitation had
                   come forward to help their mother country with the war. The meeting was organised
                   by the Women’s Section of the British Legion, and Mrs. P.G. Murray was in the chair.

                                       RED CROSS PRISONERS OF WAR FUND
                     A  bring-and-buy  sale  was  held  at  Lodgelands,  Wokingham  by  invitation  of  Mrs.
                   Luddington. The total proceeds amounted to £74 15s.

                                                   RED ARMY DAY
                      Flag sellers in Wokingham on Wednesday—Red Army Day—collected over £46 for
                   medical equipment for the Russian Army and there is more to come in.

                                                   UNITED SERVICE
                      A Women’s World Day of Prayer united service was held at Milton Road Baptist
                   Church  yesterday  (Friday).  Representatives  of  all  the  churches  in  the  town  were
                   invited. Mrs. F.E. Thomas conducted the service and gave the address.

                                             FOR U.S. ENTERTAINMENT
                     The “get-together” social at the Town Hall on Friday last week for American troops
                   and British girls proved a great success. Over 80 people attended, and the usual Friday
                   evening  entertainment  for  the  Americans  seems  to  have  come  into  its  own  at  last.
                   Wokingham  Entertainment  Committee  have  arranged  for  another  “get-together”

                   evening  at  the  Town  Hall  on  March  3 ,  and  an  all  American  Concert  Party  will
                   entertain at the Town Hall on Monday.

                        WOKINGHAM MAN RECEIVES D.S.M. AT BUCKINGHAM PALACE
                      Petty  Officer  James  Sargant,  of  “Montello”,  Barkham  Road,  Wokingham,  was
                   among those who attended the investiture at Buckingham Palace, on Tuesday, when
                   he  was  decorated  with  the  Distinguished  Service  Medal  by  the  King.  He  was
                   accompanied by his wife and sister.
