Grenside and Miss D.E. Smith were the organisers.

                                    METHODIST SUNDAY SCHOOL CAMPAIGN
A meeting in connection with the Methodist Sunday School campaign was held in
the Methodist Church on Tuesday, Mr. E.H. Perkins presiding, supported by Dr. H.W.
Perkins, M.A., D.D., resident minister. The chairman introduced the Rev. W. Briggs,
who said the present generation wanted action. The cinema could be used with
advantage in Sunday School work. Mrs. Joy (Whitley Hall) also spoke of her own
Sunday School work. Dr. Perkins thanked the speakers.

                                            POSTMASTER’S DEPARTURE
The Head Post-master of Wokingham, Mr. J.T. Golothan, who has for the past three
years occupied that position, is leaving to take up a similar post at High Wycombe. A
social was arranged and held at the Railway Hotel on Saturday. Mr. N.C. Lawrence,
assistant district auditor, union of Post Office Workers, was in the chair, and Mr. F.W.
Stokes (second in command at Wokingham Post Office) presented Mr. Golothan with
a repeating clock as a mark of esteem from the Wokingham and district Post Office
staff. Mr. Golothan suitably responded. During the evening a musical programme was
given by “Wiffles” Westlake and Mr. E. Thatcher.

                                                       THE RITZ
Today (Saturday) “Bluebeard’s Eighth Wife,” co-starring Gary Cooper and
Claudette Colbert, is the chief attraction. “That Navy Spirit,” featuring Lew Ayres and
John Howard, is the supporting film. Joan Crawford and Spencer Tracy are co-starred
in “Mannequin,” the story of two people seeking happiness in trying surroundings,
which comes to the Ritz for the early part of them week. “Partners in Crime” is the
second feature. “The Hurricane,” is showing for the latter part of the week. The high
point of the picture is the amazing spectacle which gives the story its climax and its
name. “The Hurricane” introduces an important new star in Jon Hall; Dorothy Lamour
appears opposite him as the South Sea belle.
