                                           CONCERT PARTY AT HOSPITAL
                      On Friday last week the patients of Wokingham Hospital were entertained by Mr.
                   Mack’s concert party from Reading.

                                         CHEAPER SEATS FOR PENSIONERS
                      By producing their pension books at the Ritz Cinema, from Monday onwards, old
                   age  pensioners  will  be  able  to  use  any  seat  in  the  cinema  for  7d.  during  matinee
                   performances.

                                            EVENING INSTITUTE SOCIAL
                      Nearly 100 members and friends of the Wokingham Evening  Institute attended a
                   New Year social held in the Drill Hall, Wokingham, on Friday last week, organised
                   by the Sports and Social Committee.



                                                OLD AGE PENSIONERS
                      A new branch of the National Federation of Old Age Pensioners Associations was
                   formed in Wokingham at a public meeting in St. Paul’s Parish Hall on Monday. Mr.
                   E.T.  Lancaster  presided,  Mrs.  M.  Miller  was  elected  hon.  secretary  and  Mrs.  W.
                   Stoneham chairman.

                                         ROYAL ARTILLERY ASSOCIATION
                      The Wokingham branch of the Royal Artillery Association held a dinner at the Bush
                   Hotel, Wokingham, on Friday last week. Brigadier E.J.H. Douche presided and was
                   accompanied  by  the  district  secretary  who  explained  the  re-organisation  of  the
                   association now that it was separated from the benevolent fund.

                                               PRODUCE ASSOCIATION
                      Local artists entertained over 70 members of the Wokingham Produce Association
                   at a social in the Town Hall on Wednesday. Games and competitions were conducted
                   by Ald. N.C. Lawrence, and Mr. W. Gregory, ex-Wokingham stationmaster, related
                   humorous tales. A sketch, “World Without Men,” was presented by members of the
                   Embrook W.I. Mrs White of Glebelands, was at the piano.

                                                 DISPOSAL OF FUNDS
                                              Wokingham Fire Brigade Case
                      The  proper  disposal  of  funds  representing  the  proceeds  of  sale  of  equipment
                   formerly used by the Wokingham (Berkshire) Fire Brigade, which became defunct in
                   1942,  when  the  National  Fire  Service  took  over,  was  discussed  by  Mr.  Justice
                   Danckwerts in the Chancery Division on Thursday.
                      It was stated that the funds consisted of £187 in the bank, £1,000 3%, savings Bonds
                   and £1,000 3%, Defence Bonds. The judge said the brigade was formed in 1876 and
                   in 1942 the National Fire Service having been established, the whole of the equipment
