JUNIOR SPORTS AND SOCIAL CLUB
The annual football match against Havelock Rovers on Boxing Day, was won by the
Club 8—2. On Saturday the team lost 4—3 to Wokingham Town. It was a great
pleasure to have so many Service members home for Christmas.
ACCIDENT
The Hon. Mrs. Corfield and Miss Corfield were involved in a serious car accident
on Saturday on their way to Edinburgh from Berwick. The Hon. Mrs. Corfield is still
in hospital suffering from severe cuts on her head, and shock, but is going on as well
as can be expected. Miss Corfield escaped with bruises and minor cuts.
WOKINGHAM WELCOMES 1946
Peals of eight were rung at midnight from All Saints’ and St. Paul’s. The Drill Hall,
where a dance, organised by the Wokingham branch of the Berkshire Regiment Old
Comrades’ Association, was in full swing, was crowded.
The R.E.M.E. band from Arborfield supplied the music, and proceeds went to
branch funds. Wokingham Club members entertained their friends at a party which
lasted until one o’clock. Members of the Methodist Youth Club held a social at their
headquarters until 11.30 p.m., when they attended a watch-night service, conducted
by the Rev. J. Webster, in the Rose Street Chapel. On the evening of New Year’s Day,
All Saints’ Youth Fellowship held a dinner in the Church House. Among the nine
guests were the Rev. G. Kenworthy and Miss Lloyd, who were presented with book-
tokens.

MRS. CORFIELD
The news of the Hon. Mrs. Corfield’s accident was received with general concern in
Wokingham. It is now learned that she is progressing favourably and is expected at
her home, Wemyss Lodge, Murdoch Road, sometime this weekend.
KILLED IN ACTION

Major Allan (Bruno) Davidson-Brown, 19 Hyderabad Regiment, husband of Mrs.
Margaret Davidson-Brown, of Holme Grange, Wokingham, who was previously

reported missing, is now officially reported killed in action in Malaya, on January 7
1942.
BRITISH LEGION SOCIAL
Mrs. Anderson, vice president of the branch, opened the Wokingham British Legion
Women’s Section Social on Wednesday in the Town Hall. Dances were contributed
