                      Mr. and Mrs. W. Bowyer, Red Lion Inn, Oakhanger Bordon, late of Wokingham,

                   has  been  officially  notified  that  their  son,  Major  H.G.  Bowyer,  1   Batt.  Royal
                                                                              th
                   Garhwal Rifles (Indian Army) was wounded on December 5  1945 In Sumatra. He is
                   now in hospital in Singapore where he is now progressing satisfactorily.

                                                      ST. PAUL’S
                      The Ven. Archdeacon Herbert Thorndike Shaw, M.A. Archdeacon of Grenada and
                   until recently rector of St. George’s, Grenada, Windward Islands, has been appointed
                   to the living of St. Paul’s, Wokingham. Mr. John Walter of Bear Wood, Wokingham,
                   is the patron of the living. The Archdeacon succeeds the Rev. the Hon. P.J.H. Scott,
                   who will leave shortly to take up the living of chaplain to St. Mary’s Abbey, West
                   Malling, Kent.

                      The funeral took place, on Wednesday at St. Paul’s, of Mrs. Lush, mother of Mrs.
                   C.E. Trill, of Denmark Street, Wokingham

                                             CRICKET CLUB REFORMED
                      The  first  annual  meeting  of  Wokingham  Cricket  Club  since  1941  was  held  on
                   Monday at Wokingham Club. Cllr. L.D. Sears, elected to the chair, said that he was
                   keen to see cricket in Wokingham back to the standard he remembered some years
                   ago. He stressed the need for enthusiasm and co-operation.
                      Election  of  officers  resulted:  President,  Cllr.  L.D.  Sears;  hon  secretary,  Mr.  H.
                   Knapp;  hon.  treasurer,  Mr.  P.W.  Fry;  match  secretary,  Mr.  J.  Langley,  12  Milton
                   Road, Wokingham. To the committee were elected Messrs. A.T. Ilott, E. Mundy, H.R.
                   Wells, R. Billington and R. Holder. The election of captains and vice-captains was left
                   to a further meeting.
                      The  secretary  said  that  no  fixtures  had  yet  been  made.  It  was  agreed  that  there
                   should  be  three  teams  and  that  the  match  secretary  should  start  at  once  to  arrange
                   fixtures for Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays. After some discussion, one guinea
                   was  agreed  on  as  the  subscription,  but  the  committee  was  asked  to  consider  other
                   arrangements for junior members.

                                     PRESENTATION TO THE REV. P.J.H. SCOTT
                      A representative gathering met at the St. Paul’s Parish Room on Wednesday to bid
                   farewell to the rector, the Rev. the Hon. P.J.H. Scott. The churchwardens, Mr. J.H.
                   Newberry and Mr. W.J. Willey presented him with a cheque for £83 4s. 6d. on behalf
                   of the parishioners.
