humorous duet by Tony Webb and Gordon. An acrobatic dancing turn was given by
                   the Belcher Girls.
                      During  the  concert,  the  chairman  of  the  Advisory  Committee,  Mr.  H.  Shanks,
                   welcomed  the  Mayor  who  he  said  had  supported  the  “Youth  Week”  from  its
                   inception, and had, in spite of a heavy Mayoral programme, managed to attend the
                   meetings.
                      Over  150  young  people  attended  the  Youth  Week  dance  at  the  Drill  Hall,
                   Wokingham,  on  Thursday.  Music  was  by  George  Watkins  and  his  band,  Mr.  R.B.

                                                     JUMBLE SALE
                      A successful jumble sale was held at the Church House, Wokingham, on Saturday
                   by the Women’s section of the Wokingham Labour Party, and raised over £13.


                                                    TABLE TENNIS
                      J.M. Riddell was the winner of the Wokingham and District Youth League, Table
                   Tennis League, knock-out competition, at the Church Army Youth Club.

                                                    ROTARY CLUB
                      At  a  meeting  of  the  Rotary  Club  of  Wokingham,  held  at  the  Bush  Hotel,  on
                   Thursday that week, Mr. F.E. Phipps of Messrs. H. and G. Simonds Ltd., gave a talk
                   on brewing. The vote of thanks was proposed by Rotarian Maurice Ifould

                                               PACK FLAG PRESENTED
                      Col. B.P.C. Freeland, who has been connected with the Scouting movement for over

                   40 years, presented the 1  Wokingham (Mayor’s Own) Wolf Cub Pack with their
                   own pack flag on Thursday. The evening concluded with a film show and camp fire.

                                                    The “44 FUND.”
                      To raise money for the “44 Fund,” which has been inaugurated to help meet the cost
                   of the house bought for the curate of All Saints’ Church, a whist drive was held in the
                   Church House on Wednesday. The rector, the Rev. F.A. Steer, presented the prizes,
                   which, with the refreshments, had been given.

                                                    SCOUT GROUP

                      The  annual  meeting  of  the  5   Wokingham  Scout  Group  was  held  in  St.  Paul’s
                   Parish Hall on Tuesday and was presided over by Mr. F.J. Barrett (chairman of the
                   Wokingham Scouts’ Association). Miss Finch, secretary of the Parents’ Association,
                   reported  on  the  year’s  activities,  which,  she  said,  had  been  satisfactory.  A  social
                   evening followed.

                                                      BASEBALL
                      In their first away game of the season, Wokingham Monarchs completely outplayed
                   the  R.A.F.  Boscombe  Down,  and  reversed  the  result  of  their  previous  match  by
                   winning 21-15. The Monarchs got away to a good start, their first four batters scoring,
                   Sergeant by virtue of a home-run (the first this year). By the end of the fifth innings
                   the visitors were leading 19-8, but scored only two more runs in the last four innings.
