and November £228; £3,925 has been collected since the group was formed in May,
                   1940. A group has been formed by the Presentation Convent in Easthampstead Road.

                                      AMBULANCE CAMPAIGN SUCCESSFUL
                      The campaign launched in Wokingham to raise £600 for a new ambulance station
                   and site has met with great success, more than the required amount being taken by
                   Monday morning. As  reported in our last issue £18 was raised from a concert and
                   whist drive held at the Town Hall. On Friday £21 was added from another whist drive
                   at “Glebelands,” when a hundred and sixty-four people took part, the chief winners
                   being Messrs. Cook, J.C. Crawle, and W. Hibbess.
                      On Saturday flag selling and house-to-house collections realised £86 2s. 7½d. The
                   remainder was made up by voluntary contributions from firms and individuals. The
                   total so far received is now £676 12s.

                                            CHRISTMAS CELEBRATIONS
                      Last Monday evening troops and their friends were entertained at the Church Army
                   Canteen Hut at Wokingham.

                                                METHODIST CHURCH
                      A  social  was  held  on  New  Year’s  Eve  at  the  Methodist  Church,  followed  by  a
                   Watch-Night Service at 11.15 p.m.

                                              DR. BARNARDO’S HOMES
                      Members of the Watchtower Society and Barnardo’s Helpers’ League collected £4
                   13s. by carol singing. This with other subscriptions, makes a total of £7 12s. sent to
                   Dr. Barnardo’s Homes

                                                HANDEL’S “MESSIAH”
                      “The Cecilian Singers,” rendered  Handel’s “Messiah” on Saturday at  All Saints’.
                   Mr. Arthur Yould was the conductor, and Mr. P.R. Scrivener, F.R.C.O., was at the
                   organ. Soloists were Gwendoline Earl, Elizabeth Hawkins, Elsie Gibson and Marjorie
                   Harris.

                                                    WAR SAVINGS
                      War  Savings  in  the  borough  amounted  to  £3,038  for  the  week  ending  December

                   13 .  There  was  a  slight  increase  for  the  following  week  (ending  December  20 ),
                   $3,246  being  saved.  A  new  group,  the  “Rural  District  Council  Houses  Savings
                   Group,” has been formed with 29 members as a start.
