TOWN COUNCIL AND ALLOTMENTS
The report of the General Purposes Committee, which was adopted at a meeting of
the Wokingham Town Council on Thursday, recommended that negotiations should
be made to obtain the Carnival Field, Wokingham, to be used for allotments. An
amendment, proposed by Ald. F.J Barrett that two strips of land in Gipsy Lane should
be purchased on account of the possible expenses which would be incurred by
acquiring the Carnival Field was defeated. The committee recommended that the
proposed British Restaurant should accommodate 200 people.
