good men & that other peace & other deeds of Justice may there be kept
without further delay And hoping that the Alderman Bailiffs & Inhabitants
of the said Town & their Successors may by our Grant enjoy a more ample
honour liberty & privilege that then they may think themselves more
specially & forcibly bound to bestow & yield what services they can to us
& our heirs & successors of our special favour & our certain knowledge &
meer motion Wee have willed ordained constituted & granted & by these
presents for us & our heirs & successors do will ordain constitute declare
Wokingham to be & grant that the said Town of Wokingham in the said Counties of Berks &
a Free Town Wilts henceforth be & shall be a free Town of itself & that the Aldermen
Bailiffes & Inhabitants of that Town by what name soever they have
heretofore been incorporated And whether they have heretofore been
incorporated or not henceforth for ever they be & shall be by virtue of
these presents one body corporate & politick in deed in thing & in name by
Incorporated by the name of the Alderman & Burgesses of the Town of Wokingham within
the name of the the Counties of Berks & Wilts And Wee by these presents erect make &
Alderman & ordain constitute confirm & declare them by the name of an Alderman &
Burgesses of the Burgesses of the Town of Wokingham within the counties of Berks &
Town of Wilts one body incorporate & politick in thing in deed & in name really &
Wokingham in the fully for us our heirs & successors And that they have a perpetual
counties of Berks succession by that very name And that they by the name of the Alderman
& Wilts & Burgesses of the Town of Wokingham in the counties of Berks & Wilts
are & shall be forever fit persons & in Law capable to have purchase
receive & possess lands tenements libertys priviledges jurisdictions
franchisements & hereditaments whatsoever of whatsoever kind nature &
specialty they be to them & their successors in fee & perpetuity And also
goods chattels & whatsoever other things of whatsoever kind nature or
specialty they shall be And also to give grant demise & assign lands
tenements & hereditaments goods & chattels & to do & execute all &
singular other acts & things by the name aforesaid And that by the self
same name of Alderman & Burgesses of the Town of Wokingham in the
County of Berks & Wilts they may & shall be able to plead to be
impleaded to answer be answered to defend & to be defended in
whatsoever Courts place & places & before whatsoever Judges Justices or
other persons & officers of ours & of our heirs & successors in all suits
complaints pleas causes matters & demands real personal or mixt
