whatsoever within that Town belonging to the Office of Serjeants so far
forth as is usual & accustomed in any other Borough or Town Corporate
within this Kingdom of England or else ought to be done from time to time
By whom chosen at the pleasure of the Alderman & Head Burgesses of the aforesaid Town
or by the greater part of them which Serjeants shall be nominated elected
& appointed by the Alderman & Head Burgesses of the Town aforesaid or
by the greater part of them for the time being so often as the case shall
require & shall seem unto them to be expedient & that those Serjeants shall
be attendant upon the Alderman of the aforesaid Town for the time being
Their Oath & that those Serjeants from time to time thus to be chosen & named &
every one of them shall take a Corporall Oath before the Alderman of the
aforesaid Town for the time being & as many of the Head Burgesses of the
aforesaid Town as at that time will be present to execute & perform the
Their Office to be Office of Serjeants of the aforesaid Town And that after such Oath so
during Pleasure taken they & either of them may hold & execute that office of Serjeants
during the pleasure of the Alderman & Head Burgesses of the said Town
And Further Wee will grant unto the Alderman & Burgesses of the said
Town in & through all things appertaining to that Office of Serjeant during
the pleasure of the Alderman & Head Burgesses of the aforesaid Town or
the greater part of them for the time being And further Wee will by these
presents for us & our heirs & successors Wee grant unto the aforesaid
A Court of Record Alderman & Burgesses of the Town aforesaid & their Successors
& before whom to henceforth & for ever may have & keep within the aforesaid Town one
be held Court of Record every Fryday in every week throughout the yeare before
the Alderman the Under Steward or Recorder of the aforesaid Town
skilfull in the Law & the Head Burgesses of the aforesaid Town or before
What pleas may be three of them to be kept & that they may hold in that Court by complaint in
there holden that Court to be levied all & all manner of pleas actions suits & demands
personal & mixt of whatsoever transgressions by force & arms or other
wayes made or to be made in contempt of us our heirs or successors & also
of all manner of actions upon case of debt account agreement deceit
detriment of papers writings & muniments chattels the takeings &
deteinings of cattle & chattels & contracts ariseing or happening out of
whatsoever causes or things within the aforesaid Town & the Limitts &
precincts thereof not exceeding the sume of ten pounds & that such pleas
