said Town suburbs Libertys or precincts thereof And further Wee also by
                                   these presents for us our heirs & successors will grant to the Alderman &

                                   Burgesses of the said Town & their successors that they & their successors
                                   henceforth forever may & shall have within the aforesaid Town one honest
               A Town Clerk etc    & discreet man to be chosen in form hereafter mentioned in the presents

                                   who  may  &  shall  be  termed  the  Common  Clerk  of  the  aforesaid  Town
                                   which Common Clerk may & shall have full power & authority to do all &

                                   singular the things which belong to the Office of a Common Clerk to do or
                                   execute And for the better executing of our grant in this behalf Wee have
                                   assigned nominated & appointed & made & by these presents for us our

               The First Town      heirs & successors Wee do assign nominate appoint & make our beloved
               Clerk               George Wellington Gentleman to be the first & modern Common Clerk of

                                   the  aforesaid  Town  to  continue  in  the  same  Office  during  his  life  to
                                   exercise it by himself or by his sufficient deputy & Wee will that the said
                                   George  Wellington  &  whatsoever  person  hereafter  to  be  chosen  &

               The Oath            nominated unto the Office of Common Clerk of the aforesaid Town before
                                   he be admitted to execute that Office that they & every of them shall take a
                                   Corporall  Oath  before  the  Alderman    of  the  aforesaid  Town  before  so

                                   many of the Head Burgesses of the aforesaid Town as will there be present
                                   to do & execute all & singular the things rightly well & faithfully in all &
                                   by all things which do belong to the duty of a Common Clerk of the Town

                                   aforesaid And Wee Will by these presents for us our heirs & successors
                                   Wee  grant  to  the  aforesaid  Alderman  &  the  Burgesses  of  the  aforesaid

                                   Town & their successors that from time to time & at all times after the
               The manner of the   death  of  the  said  George  Wellington  it  may  &  shall  be  lawfull  for  the
               chooseing of him    aforesaid Alderman & Burgesses of the Town aforesaid or to the greater

                                   part of them whereof Wee Will have the Alderman to be one for the time
               The Office during   being to choose & authorise another honest sufficient & discreet man to be
               life                Common Clerk of the aforesaid Town to continue in that Office during his

                                   life Wee will also & by these presents for us our heirs & successors Wee
                                   grant  to  the  aforesaid  Alderman  &  Burgesses  of  the  aforesaid  Town  &
               The Serjeants       their successors that they & their successors may & shall have & shall &

               Their authority     may  nominate  &  choose  within  the  aforesaid  Town  two  Officers  which
                                   shall be called Serjeants at the mace to serve in the Court of the said Town

                                   & to execute processes destreights attachments arrests empannell Jurys of
                                   Enquiry  execution  of  judgements  precepts  warrants  &  other  businesses
